Petaling Jaya – PAS will continue to support the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and has urged its Barisan Nasional allies to stand united and defend the Perikatan Nasional government.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan also thanked the King for his wisdom in proclaiming that leaders should be prioritising the people’s health in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“PAS thanks Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for standing with the government in its efforts to manage and combat the Covid-19 pandemic that has affected the people’s lives,” he said.
In a statement Tuesday (Oct 27), Takiyuddin added that PAS has stressed on all of its 18 MPs in the Dewan Rakyat to stand in solidarity with Muhyiddin.
PAS’ statement comes after Umno decided in a meeting on Monday (Oct 26) night that it will not work with PKR and DAP and will continue to support the Perikatan government.
Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also called for the principles of cooperation to be improved based on respect and political consensus.
On Sunday (Oct 25), the King proclaimed that there was no need to declare a state of emergency in the country amidst the Covid-19 pandemic after consulting the Malay Rulers.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong also reminded all politicians, particularly lawmakers, to immediately put a stop to all forms of politicking that could disrupt the stability of the country, adding that he had confidence in the current administration in dealing with Covid-19. – The Star
