14,954 new Covid-19 cases reported

Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia reported 14,954 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

In a Twitter post, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,097,830.

He said there were 23,469 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 1,863,922.

There are 1,194 patients in intensive care, 882 of whom were confirmed to be Covid-19 cases and 312 suspected of being positive.

Meanwhile, 665 patients required respiratory assistance, with 401 confirmed as Covid-19 cases and the remaining 264 suspected of being positive.

Sarawak recorded the highest number of cases with 2,707.

This was followed by Selangor (2,028), Johor (1,948), Kelantan (1,420), Sabah (1,356), Penang (1,259), Perak (1,222), Kedah (809), Pahang (705), Terengganu (671), Kuala Lumpur (383), Melaka (207), Negeri Sembilan (144), Perlis (76), Putrajaya (19), and Labuan (0).
