19,740 new Covid-19 cases recorded

Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia reported 19,740 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

In a Tweet, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 1,424, 639.

He said there were 17,450 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 1,162,578.

There are 249,277 active cases with 1,047 patients being treated in intensive care and 520 needing respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 274 deaths take the number of fatalities to 12,784.

Selangor recorded the highest number of infections with 5,706 cases.

This was followed by Sabah (1,728), Kedah (1,592), Sarawak (1,566), Johor (1,510), Kuala Lumpur (1,360), Penang (1,251), Kelantan (1,227), Melaka (1,120), Perak (938), Terengganu (688), Pahang (646), Putrajaya (43), Perlis (20) and Labuan (2).
