Covid-19 : 20,546 new cases recorded

Petaling Jaya – Malaysia  reported 20,546 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the third consecutive day the number of infections has dropped.

In a tweet, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 1,404, 899.

He said there were 16,945 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 1,145,128.

There are 247,261 active cases with 1,059 patients being treated in intensive care and 526 needing respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 282 deaths take the number of fatalities to 12,510.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 7,307.

Followed by Sabah (1,665), Kedah (1,596), Johor (1,508), Kuala Lumpur (1,442), Penang (1,111), Perak (1,069), Kelantan (1,025), Sarawak (963), Pahang (926), Negeri Sembilan (698), Malacca (631), Terengganu (534), Putrajaya (47), Perlis (21) and Labuan (3).
