Petaling Jaya – Malaysia recorded 4,519 Covid-19 cases on Saturday (May 8), bringing the cumulative total to 436,944.
In the same 24-hour period, there were 25 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 1,657.
The deaths are tied with the previous record high on Feb 18.
There were also 2,719 recoveries, which means 398,723 have recovered from the disease nationwide.
There are still 393 patients in intensive care units, with 210 requiring ventilation support.
The Health Ministry has also identified 16 new Covid-19 clusters in the country, taking the number of active clusters in Malaysia to 429.
“Of the 25 deaths, 24 are Malaysians, while the other is a foreigner, ” said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press conference on Saturday (May 8). – The Star
