Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia recorded 5,218 new Covid-19 infections on Monday (June 28), bringing the total number of infections in the country since the pandemic began to 739,266 cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor still topped the list with 1,989 cases.
This was followed by Negeri Sembilan (629), Kuala Lumpur (469), Sarawak (409), Perak (400), Sabah (258), Johor (243), Kedah (194), Melaka (183), Pahang (111), Labuan (108), Kelantan (101), Penang (88), Terengganu (23), Putrajaya (8) and Perlis (5).
In the same 24-hour span, 57 more fatalities were reported, taking the Covid-19 death toll to 5,001.
Currently, 899 patients are under intensive care treatment, with 451 on ventilator support.
Another 4,744 Covid-19 patients were discharged from treatment.
This means 672,453 or 90.9% people in the country have recovered from the coronavirus to date.
The number of active cases has gone up to 61,812.
