Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia recorded 6,849 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (June 11), says the Health Ministry.
This takes the country’s total number of infections to 646,411 since the pandemic began.
In a Twitter post, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor has 2,558 new cases – the highest in the country.
This is followed by Kuala Lumpur with (884 )cases, Sarawak with (699) cases, Negri Sembilan with (685) and Johor with (426).
Sabah has (309) new cases, Kelantan has (248), Penang has (205), Labuan has (176), Melaka has (170), Perak has (161), Kedah has (161), Pahang has 89, Terengganu has (66), Putrajaya has (10) and Perlis has two.
The country also recorded 84 more Covid-19 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 3, 768.
There are 912 patients being treated at intensive care units (ICU), with 458 requiring ventilator support.
Nationwide, there are 78, 864 active Covid-19 cases with patients hospitalised and under observation.
Meanwhile, 7, 749 patients were discharged in the same 24-hour span.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 recoveries in the country to 563, 779. — The Star
