Putrajaya – Malaysia recorded 835 new Covid-19 cases today, raising its number of cumulative infections to 28,640.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said five of the new infections are imported, involving a Malaysian and four foreigners, returning from India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Bulgaria.
The rest of the cases are local transmissions.
He said Sabah still leads daily infection figures with 410 cases recorded today, followed by Negri Sembilan with 155, and Selangor with 125.
Meanwhile, 89 patients are in intensive care, with 32 on ventilators.
Two fatalities were reported today, bringing the death toll in Malaysia to 238, said Dr Noor Hisham at the daily Covid-19 press conference here, today.
He added that 674 patients were declared fully recovered and discharged from hospitals nationwide today, bringing the number of recovered patients to 18,499. – NST
