Covid-19 : Record high of 9,180 new cases

Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia recorded 9,180 more Covid-19 cases on Friday (July 9), a new daily record.

The highest figure before this was the 9,020 cases reported on May 29.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 4,400. Yesterday, it recorded 4,152 cases.

The country’s cumulative total of cases is 817,838.

In the same 24-hour span, 5,713 patients were discharged from treatment.

To date, 731,193 or 89% of Covid-19 patients in Malaysia have recovered.

There were 77 more Covid-19 fatalities, which takes the country’s death toll to 5,980.

Active cases across the country have now gone up to 80,665.

Some 959 patients are being treated at intensive care units (ICU), with 465 on ventilator support.

This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,271), Negeri Sembilan (899), Kedah (417), Sarawak (406), Sabah (323), Johor (315), Perak (241), Melaka (222), Pahang (214), Kelantan (151), Penang (142), Terengganu (82), Labuan (80), Putrajaya (16) and Perlis (1).
