Kuala Lumpur, 21 May 2021 – Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced another nationwide movement control order (MCO) from May 12 until June 7 in order to control the rapidly rising Covid-19 case numbers.

Persatuan Dinamik Sinar Kasih Chairman, Dato N.Sivakumar has called the government to impose a full 30 days full and complete lockdown to curb the rapid spread of the potent variant of Covid ‘19 virus.

“This would be the best solution to bring the current spike in cases to control and avoid more deaths from occuring. We have challenges in accomodating the Covid patients with almost all hospitals are nearing maximum capacity. The best option now is to go for a full lockdown. It may sound harsh but we are left with no choice,” he said.

As of yesterday, it was reported that the daily Covid cases reported has touched almost 6000 and expected to surge further.

Dato Siva also urged the government to consider loan moratorium for a minimum of 6 months as MCO has directly or indirectly affected businesses cash flow, especially SMEs. The hues and cries of small business owners who depend on daily cash flow is eminent and government should step in to assist this group.

“A moratorium on loans would ease the burden of suffering business operators and at the same time give them some room to recuperate their losses. If more businesses close down it means many will also be out of job,” Siva said.

“We must put ‘rakyat’ above all. Their safety and wellbeing should be our utmost priority,” stressed Dato Sivakumar.
