New Covid-19 cases hit another record high of 20,889

Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia reported another record high 20,889 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, nearly 300 more than yesterday’s mark of 20,596.

In a Twitter post, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 1,224,595.

Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there was a record high 16,394 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 993,020.

There are now 221,396 active cases, with a record 1,096 patients being treated in intensive care and 545 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 160 deaths take the number of fatalities to 10,179.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 8,792.

Followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,483) Johor (1,275) Sabah (1,291) Sarawak (652) Negeri Sembilan (986) Kedah (1,371) Pulau Pinang (776) Kelantan (938) Perak (624) Melaka (491) Pahang (610) Terengganu (460) Putrajaya (122) Labuan (9) and Perlis (9).
