Ipoh – The Perak Mentri’s Besar office will be closed temporarily after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.
In a statement issued on Thursday (Nov 5), a spokesman said the office had been sanitised according to the standard operating procedure.
“The state Health Department is carrying out close contact checks on said worker, officers and other employees from the office.
“All have been instructed to do self-quarantine at home and to monitor their own health while waiting for further instructions from the Health Department,” the spokesman said, adding that Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu was not at the office as he was attending the Dewan Rakyat sitting.
“However, for safety reasons, Faizal took a swab test on Wednesday (Nov 4) and the result came out negative,” the spokesman added.
Earlier in the day, a text message stating that a staff member was diagnosed with Covid-19 went viral on social media.
According to a source, the entire State Secretariat building had been sanitised on Thursday with staff being told to leave the premises in the afternoon. – The Star
