Record 17,045 Covid-19 cases bring total past 1m mark

Petaling Jaya – Malaysia reported a record 17,045 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

In a Facebook post, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 1,013,438.

In the same 24-hour period, there were 92 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 7,994.

There were also 9,683 recoveries, which means 844,541 have recovered from the disease nationwide. There are still 970 patients in intensive care units, with 501 requiring ventilator support.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 8,500.

This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,045), Kedah (1,216), Johor (950), Sabah (818), Perak (609), Penang (573), Negeri Sembilan (513), Pahang (424), Sarawak (407), Melaka (370), Terengganu (273), Kelantan (266), Putrajaya (50), Labuan (21) and Perlis (10).
