Record high of 15,573 new Covid-19 cases

Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia reported a record high 15,573 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

In a tweet, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 980,491.

In the same 24-hour period, there were 144 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 7,718. There were also 10,094 recoveries, which means 825,387 have recovered from the disease nationwide. There are still 939 patients in intensive care units, with 456 requiring ventilator support.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 7,672.

Followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,063),  Kedah (937), Johor (722), Negeri Sembilan (682), Penang (530), Sabah (516), Sarawak (461), Pahang (457), Melaka (452), Perak (415), Kelantan (372), Terengganu (229), Putrajaya (41), Labuan (21) and Perlis (3).
